We’ve just launched a brand new range: VM6 Enterprise. It’s built on AMD EPYC server processors with ECC memory, fast NVMe storage and a 10 Gbps port on every plan, hosted in our Norwich location in the East of England. Plans start at £5 a month for 4 GB of RAM.
Here’s why we built it, what’s inside, and who it’s for.
Why EPYC?
Our Performance range runs on the Ryzen 9 9950X, which is brilliant for anything that needs raw single-core speed: game servers, busy websites, trading platforms. But a lot of what people run on a VPS isn’t about chasing the highest clock speed. Databases, business apps, Docker hosts, CI runners and file sync just need to stay up, stay consistent and have plenty of memory to work with.
That’s what EPYC is designed for. Each Enterprise host runs an AMD EPYC 7642 with:
- 48 cores and 96 threads per host, so there’s lots of headroom for every VPS on it
- 256 MB of L3 cache, which keeps busy workloads fed without constantly going back to RAM
- Eight memory channels for serious memory bandwidth
- A platform built to run flat out 24/7, the same class of CPU used in big datacentres
Why ECC memory matters
Every Enterprise plan runs on ECC registered DDR4. ECC (error-correcting code) memory detects and fixes the tiny, random memory errors that happen in any computer running all day, every day. On normal memory those errors can quietly corrupt data or crash a server. On ECC memory they’re caught and corrected before they cause a problem.
If you’re running a database, accounting software or anything where a silent error would really hurt, ECC is the difference between “it’s fine” and “it’s fine, and we can prove it”.
The plans
| Plan | vCPU | ECC RAM | NVMe | Traffic @ 10 Gbps | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| UK EPYC E4 | 2 | 4 GB | 60 GB | 5 TB | £5/mo |
| UK EPYC E8 | 4 | 8 GB | 120 GB | 8 TB | £9/mo |
| UK EPYC E16 | 6 | 16 GB | 240 GB | 12 TB | £17/mo |
| UK EPYC E32 | 8 | 32 GB | 480 GB | 16 TB | £32/mo |
| UK EPYC E64 | 12 | 64 GB | 960 GB | 20 TB | £60/mo |
Every plan includes a dedicated IPv4 address, always-on DDoS protection, daily snapshot backups, full root access and the VirtFusion control panel. There are no setup fees and no long contracts, and our 14-day money-back guarantee applies.
How fast is it?
We ran the popular YABS benchmark on a brand new E4 (2 vCPU, 4 GB), our smallest plan. Here are the highlights:
- Disk: 141k IOPS on 4k random read/write, and over 7 GB/s at larger block sizes
- Network: 4.6 Gbps out to London and Amsterdam, with 7.8 ms to London
- Geekbench 6: 1354 single-core, 2424 multi-core on just 2 vCPU
That’s on a £5 plan. The bigger plans get more cores, more memory and more storage on the same hardware.
What’s it good for?
- Databases: PostgreSQL, MySQL and MariaDB, where ECC and a big cache really pay off
- Business apps: CRMs, ERPs, accounting and internal tools
- Containers: Docker hosts and Kubernetes nodes
- CI/CD: build runners that chew through jobs all day
- File sync and collaboration: Nextcloud and similar
- Analytics and search: Elasticsearch, OpenSearch and big in-memory datasets
Enterprise or Performance?
The simple version: if your workload cares most about single-core speed (game servers, MT4/MT5, PHP-heavy sites), go for our Performance range on the Ryzen 9950X. If it cares most about reliability, memory and running steadily 24/7, Enterprise is the better fit, and you get more memory for your money.
