UK Game Server Hosting PufferPanel ready in 5 minutes
Game server VPS hosting with PufferPanel pre-installed as a one-click deploy option. AMD Ryzen 9 9950X at 5.7 GHz boost for high tickrate, DDR5 memory, Gen4 NVMe storage, UK datacentres for low UK player latency, and DDoS protection at the network edge. Minecraft, Rust, ARK, Valheim, Palworld and more.
PufferPanel pre-installed Minecraft / Rust / ARK Ryzen 9 · 5.7 GHz boost High tickrate DDoS protection Low UK player ping Instant deployment
Three things make or break a game server: single-thread CPU clock (for tickrate), enough RAM (for the game world), and low latency to where your players live. We hit all three. The rest is honest framing about what you actually get.
PufferPanel pre-installed
Free web-based game server manager available as a one-click deploy template. Start/stop/restart servers, file manager, console output, sub-user permissions for friends, scheduled tasks. No SSH needed for day-to-day game management.
5.7 GHz boost clock
Minecraft, Valheim, Rust and many other games run the main game loop on a single thread. Server tickrate (target 20 TPS for Minecraft) is limited by single-thread CPU performance. Our Ryzen 9 9950X has one of the highest single-thread clocks available.
Low UK player ping
UK datacentres = 10-25ms ping for UK domestic broadband players. Compare to US-based panel hosts where UK players see 90-120ms. Twitchy games (CS2, Rust PVP) and modded MC PVP feel completely different at 15ms vs 100ms.
DDoS protection
Game servers attract DDoS attacks more than other workloads — angry players, rival communities, griefers. Always-on volumetric DDoS mitigation is included on every plan, scrubbed at the network edge before reaching your VPS. Free, not a premium add-on.
Multiple games per VPS
PufferPanel supports multiple game servers per VPS, RAM permitting. UK AMD G8 (8 GB) can run 2-3 small Minecraft + a Valheim. UK AMD G16 (16 GB) handles a BungeeCord/Velocity proxy network. Multiple worlds, multiple games, one bill.
Full root for power users
Prefer Pterodactyl, AMP, WISP or running game servers directly via systemd? Pick Ubuntu or Debian instead of PufferPanel at deploy and you get a clean VPS with full root. Install whatever stack you want. We do not manage alternative panels but they all work fine.
Gen4 NVMe storage
Chunk loading speed, world save times and mod loading all benefit from fast storage. 3,800+ MB/s sequential reads on our Gen4 NVMe. Means less lag when your players explore new chunks, faster Minecraft world saves, faster mod loading on restart.
5-minute deploy
Card payment activates within minutes. Pick PufferPanel at deploy and your VPS is ready to install game servers. Log in via the panel web UI, follow the install wizard, you have a Minecraft server running in 5 minutes from first signup click.
UK-based support
Tickets answered by people who know what Paper, Forge and Fabric are, can read a Minecraft crash log and won’t tell you to "restart Windows" when your Linux game server crashes. Founder-led, no offshore call centre.
Game Server Plans
Pick a plan by RAM — game servers eat memory
Same hardware and pricing as our Linux and Windows VPS range. PufferPanel pre-installed free as a deploy option. Each plan shows what it comfortably runs — estimates are conservative, real-world depends on mods, plugins and player behaviour.

PufferPanel — the free game panel, pre-installed
Pick "PufferPanel" as your operating system at deploy time and your VPS comes ready with a web-based game server manager. Install Minecraft, Rust, ARK, Valheim, Palworld, CS2 and other games from the panel UI — no SSH needed for game management. Sub-user permissions, file manager, console output, scheduled tasks. Some games may need template tweaks for specific mod configurations — standard PufferPanel applies. Prefer Pterodactyl or AMP? Pick Ubuntu/Debian instead and install your preferred panel yourself (unmanaged).

How PufferPanel works
Web-based game server management
Pick the PufferPanel template at deploy. You receive PufferPanel admin credentials at signup. Log into the web UI from any browser. Click "Install Server", pick a game from the template list, configure RAM/slots/port, deploy. The game server starts within minutes.
Start, stop, restart any game server with one click
Sub-users — give friends panel access without full control
Scheduled tasks — auto-restart, world backups, regular jobs
Resource limits per server — RAM caps, CPU shares
PufferPanel is open source and unmanaged — customer handles panel updates and game server config. We provide the VPS and the install, not panel-level support.
Game compatibility
Which game on which plan
Honest player-count estimates per AMD plan. Real-world depends on mods, plugins and how chaotic your players are. When in doubt, size up — game servers degrade badly when undersized.

Optional add-ons
Add what your server needs
Most add-ons can be configured at order time or added later via your client area.
Daily World Backups
Included on AMD plans — 7-day retention. Critical before mod updates or major map changes. Manual snapshots also available from PufferPanel.
Extra NVMe Storage
£0.10/GB/mo — add space for large modpacks, multiple world backups, server logs, or hosting multiple games.
Dedicated CPU Cores
£5/core/mo — pin a vCPU to a physical Ryzen core for consistent tickrate under heavy player load. Eliminates noisy-neighbour CPU contention.
Additional IPv4 Address
£2/mo each — useful for running multiple Minecraft network nodes, separate game IPs, or running a BungeeCord on its own IP.
Off-site World Backup
£8/mo — backups stored at a second UK datacentre. For when your community has put 6 months of building into a server world.
Pterodactyl Install Service
By request — prefer Pterodactyl over PufferPanel? Open a ticket after signup, we can install it for you as a one-off (still unmanaged afterwards).
Who buys game server hosting
Common game server setups
Six typical buyer profiles. Match yours to find the right plan and setup.
Friends server
You and 5-15 friends want a private Minecraft, Valheim or Palworld server. UK AMD G2 or G4 fits comfortably. Pick PufferPanel, install the game from the panel, share the IP. Done in 10 minutes.
Modded Minecraft community
Running RLCraft, All The Mods, FTB or your own custom modpack for 10-30 players. Mods eat RAM — size up. UK AMD G8 minimum for most heavy packs, G16 for big communities.
Rust / ARK community
Wipe-day Rust servers, PvP-focused communities, dedicated raid windows. CPU clock matters most here — 5.7 GHz Ryzen handles 50-slot Rust well. ARK is more RAM-hungry; 10 players needs 8 GB minimum.
Minecraft network
Multiple servers behind a BungeeCord or Velocity proxy — lobby, survival, creative, mini-games. Players hop between worlds. UK AMD G16 or G32 for the proxy and main lobby, separate VPS for heavy worlds.
Streamer / content creation
Hosting your viewer Minecraft event, Rust SMP series or modded playthrough. Predictable performance, dedicated IP, low UK ping for European viewers. UK AMD G8 covers most one-off events.
Paid server operator
Running a Minecraft server with rank sales, Patreon support, or selling slots? Performance and uptime translate directly to revenue. Start at UK AMD G16, plan a clean upgrade path to dedicated as you scale.
Game Server Hosting Explained
VPS vs game panel hosting — what’s the difference?
Two broad ways to host game servers. Game panel hosts (Apex, BisectHosting, Shockbyte, GTXGaming) sell you a pre-configured slot for a specific game. You get a slick web UI, plugins from a click-to-install browser, support that knows your game. Upside: zero setup. Downside: locked to one game, locked to their plugin list, fixed slot counts, usually US-hosted.
VPS hosting (this page) gives you a virtual machine you control. PufferPanel pre-installed gives you most of the panel experience while keeping the freedom to install anything else — multiple games, custom mods, Pterodactyl if you prefer it, Discord bots alongside the game server, anything that runs on Linux. Upside: flexibility, UK location, lower cost per RAM. Downside: you handle Linux-level things if they break.
Most technical gamers and modded communities prefer VPS. Most "I just want to click install" players prefer panel hosts. Pick honestly based on which you are.
Why UK hosting matters
UK datacentres for UK player communities
If your players are mostly in the UK or northern Europe, hosting in the UK is the obvious win. UK domestic broadband to our nodes is typically 10-25ms. Same player connecting to an Apex Hosting US-East server: 90-120ms.
For Minecraft survival, the difference is mostly chat lag. For Rust, ARK PvP and CS2, the difference is whether your shots register. UK players who switch from US-hosted servers to UK-hosted servers notice within minutes.
Latency from our UK nodes to mainland Europe: 20-50ms depending on country. Germany around 25-35ms, France 15-30ms. If you have mixed UK+EU players, UK hosting gives them all reasonable ping. If your community is mostly US, host in the US — we are honest about not being the right choice for that.
Outgrowing a VPS?
When community servers need bare metal
Once you hit 100+ slot Rust, 20+ player ARK with multiple maps, 200+ player Minecraft networks or paid server operations with revenue depending on consistent performance — it’s time to consider a dedicated server. AMD Ryzen 9 dedicated from £170/mo, smaller options from £80/mo.

Our game server VPS plans start from £6/month for UK AMD G2 (2 vCPU, 2 GB DDR5 RAM, 50 GB NVMe) — enough for vanilla Minecraft with 5-8 friends or a Terraria world. Most players want UK AMD G4 (£9/mo, 4 GB RAM) for vanilla Minecraft with 15 friends or a small Valheim server. UK AMD G8 (£16/mo) covers most modded servers, Rust 50-slot or ARK 10-player. PufferPanel is pre-installed free on every plan.
Yes — PufferPanel is available as a pre-installed VirtFusion template, free on every plan. Pick PufferPanel at deploy and your VPS comes ready with a web-based game server manager: start/stop/restart, file manager, console output, sub-user permissions for friends. Supports Minecraft (vanilla, Forge, Fabric, Paper, Spigot), Rust, ARK, Valheim, Palworld, Garry’s Mod, Terraria and CS2 out of the box. Some games may need template tweaks for specific mod configurations.
Yes, but you install it yourself. Our VPS comes with full root access, so Pterodactyl, AMP (CubeCoders), WISP and other panels all work fine. We do not provide install scripts, managed support or pre-installed templates for these — they are documented well by their own communities. Choose PufferPanel template if you want zero-setup, or pick Ubuntu/Debian and install your preferred panel yourself. We can install Pterodactyl as a one-off paid service on request.
Anything that runs on Linux or Windows. PufferPanel has built-in support for Minecraft (all variants), Rust, ARK, Valheim, Palworld, CS2, Garry’s Mod, Terraria, 7 Days to Die, FiveM, Project Zomboid and more. For games not in the panel template list, you can run them directly via SSH with full root access. Windows-only games can run on a Windows VPS template (BYOL Windows licensing applies).
Yes. Every VPS includes always-on DDoS protection at the network edge — critical for game servers because they get attacked more than other workloads. Inbound attack traffic is filtered before reaching your VPS. This is not a paid add-on or premium-tier feature. Application-layer attacks (Minecraft bot floods, for example) are not fully mitigated by network-level DDoS — use plugins like CoreProtect, mob limits or rate-limit plugins for those.
Vanilla Minecraft: 2 GB minimum for 5-8 players (UK AMD G2 at £6/mo). Paper / Spigot with 15-20 players: 4 GB minimum (UK AMD G4 at £9/mo). Modest modded server (50-100 mods, 5-10 players): 6-8 GB recommended (UK AMD G8 at £16/mo). Heavy modded (200+ mods, big packs like RLCraft or All The Mods): 10-16 GB minimum (UK AMD G16 at £32/mo). Remember PufferPanel uses some RAM itself, and Java needs headroom — size up if budget allows.
Yes, more than core count in many cases. Minecraft, Valheim, Rust and similar games run their main game loop on a single thread — your server tickrate (target 20 TPS for Minecraft) is limited by single-thread CPU performance. Our AMD Ryzen 9 9950X at 5.7 GHz boost is one of the fastest single-thread CPUs available, which is why we use it for both VPS and dedicated. Hosts using older Xeons or oversold cores struggle to hit 20 TPS under load.
Yes — PufferPanel supports multiple servers per VPS. RAM is the main constraint. UK AMD G8 (8 GB) can comfortably run 2-3 small Minecraft servers plus a Valheim server. UK AMD G16 (16 GB) can run a Minecraft network with a BungeeCord or Velocity proxy. For larger multi-server setups, UK AMD G32 (32 GB) or a dedicated server gives you more headroom and isolation between worlds.
From UK domestic broadband: typically 10-25ms to our nodes. From mainland Europe: 20-50ms (Germany 25-35ms, France 15-30ms, Spain 35-50ms). From US East Coast: ~80ms. UK players hosted on US-based game hosts like Apex or Bisect typically see 90-120ms, which is noticeable in twitchy games like CS2 or Rust. Hosting in the UK is the obvious win for UK player communities.
VPS works well for most community servers. Step up to dedicated when you hit: 100+ slot Rust, 20+ player ARK with multiple maps, 200+ player Minecraft networks, or running a paid game server business with revenue depending on uptime. Our dedicated servers (Ryzen 7/9 or Xeon Silver) start at £79.99/mo and give you the entire physical machine.
